The smart-waste sensor which is places below the waste containers is using LoRaWAN technology as an open standard for data communication. The city representatives can monitor the data in real time and plan their waste collection tours based on generated data.

The intelligent and demand-oriented route planning for emptying waste containers ensures a reduction in exhaust emissions by optimizing the routes of waste collection tours. In addition, the avoidance of overfull containers or the unnecessary collection of empty containers increases the efficiency of daily operations. Both factors contribute significantly to an increase in the quality of life of citizens. Furthermore, predictions can be derived from evaluating the generated data. This ensures a continuous improvement of the routes.
