The scope for this service is to provide an overview of existing integration possibilities for door & window event monitoring. By using this service you can monitor the open / closed status of your windows and doors and receive notifications in case of status changes.
Multiple smart home companies are providing this service. The services differ from each other in connectivity options and price ranges. The most common connectivity protocol is Zigbee. One of many Zigbee solutions are for example Aqara Door and Window Sensor. They detect the current status of doors or windows via the distance of the magnets inside the sensors between the sensor and the magnet. The system is compatible with Apple Home, Aquara Home or other Open Source Platforms. The battery lifetime is around 2 years under normal usage. Notification of open and/or close state can be set up easiliy.
Another integration possibility is based on the LoRaWAN connectivity protocol and offered by the company Senlab D™ as a smart wireless module, featuring the LoRaWAN connectivity protocol, equipped with a magnetic door switch set. A Plug & Play installation makes the integration very easy. Double sided tape or screw mounting of door contacts is provided as well. Door contact detection is possible up to 3 cm
The value for the user is the increase of his security at home or in the office environment. Real-time monitoring of the status allows you to have a central visualization of all doors and windows so that you don’t need to check every entrance possibility manually. Moreover the notification possibility makes you aware of anomalies and unexpected entrances. The combination with a smart camera makes it than e.g. possible to check the anomaly remotely.

- Commercial licensing
The door & window magnetic sensor is collecting the status data. This sensor data than flows over the LoRaWAN or Zigbee communication network to the central data storage of the service provider. The data will be than provided via web service and can be viewed on the end device.
